How do you transfer to TMU? Follow these four simple steps.

  1. 1

    Apply to TMU for free.

Thomas More University offers multiple start dates a year for most programs, so you can apply anytime.

Soon after you apply, a TMU enrollment coach will contact you and let you know what additional documentation you need to submit.

Tell TMU where you’ve attended college.

Your enrollment coach will help you request official transcripts from all universities and colleges you’ve attended.

Get Transfer Credit For Past Experience

You may be eligible for transfer credit from prior college courses, exams, work or military experience.

Credit for prior college courses

Undergraduate students

  • TMU allows you to transfer up to 90 credit hours from regionally-accredited institutions
  • At least 30 credits need to be completed at TMU

Credit by examination (testing out of courses)

TMU accepts credit through the following:

  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
  • DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST)

Credit for professional work experience

TMU follows the credit recommendations of the American Council on Education (ACE). An ACE credit recommendation represents college-level equivalencies based on a review of workforce training.

An enrollment coach can help you determine if you qualify as well as help collect your ACE transcripts.

Credit for service members, veterans and eligible spouses

While anyone can take CLEP or DSST tests for undergraduate credit, qualifying military personnel and their families can take them for free through the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES).

Additionally, your military coursework and experiences could count as credits toward your degree. A TMU enrollment coach can help you find out if you qualify for these benefits.

“I think it’s awesome; just the support that we have here. Having a one-on-one relationship with my teachers is very important. The teachers actually care more about you than just being a student in the class.— Sydney Moss, TMU Student
